Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 6 ("Pathetique")

Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74, known as the Pathétique, is a groundbreaking work that challenged the conventions of the symphonic form. Composed and premiered in 1893, just days before the composer’s death, it is often interpreted as a deeply personal and autobiographical statement. Tchaikovsky described the work as a “program symphony” but chose not to reveal its narrative. Many scholars view it as a reflection of his inner life, including struggles with identity and emotional turmoil.
